What is Meridian Solid Surface?
Meridian Solid Surface® is a cast polymer surfacing product that we manufacture in our 60,000 square foot manufacturing plant in Massillon, Ohio. Our Meridian Solid Surface® products are typically used for kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, and for shower bases and wall panels in both residential and commercial/institutional applications.
All Meridian Solid Surface® products are made from a non-porous, homogeneous blend of resin and natural mineral fillers. There are no surface coatings to disrupt or damage because Meridian Solid Surface® is composed of the same polymer blend from front to back and from top to bottom. The unique characteristics of Meridian Solid Surface® result in a product that is completely non-porous and resistant to most household chemicals, so stains and liquids don’t soak in. The non-porous nature of Meridian Solid Surface® also provides an all-important health benefit; it will not promote the growth of bacteria, mold, or mildew.
In addition, Tower Industries stands behind every Meridian Solid Surface® countertop and shower product with a rock-solid warranty against any manufacturing defect.
NSF-51® Standard certified
Meridian Solid Surface countertops and tabletops are NSF-51® Standard certified after meeting the strict requirements for products used to manufacture food equipment and related materials.
NSF requirements for food equipment and material safety help ensure products do not release harmful chemicals into food and safeguard against products that may harbor bacteria. NSF-51 Standard establishes minimum public health and sanitation requirements for materials and finishes such as food preparation and serving surfaces.
To earn the certification, a regimented product evaluation process and testing must be performed. The manufacturing facility needs to pass an inspection, confirm production methods, and allow product sampling by NSF International auditors to certify that consistent quality standards exist.
Tower’s innovative manufacturing process not only eliminates volatile organic compounds before the products leave the plant, but also creates a non-porous surface that does not promote the growth of bacteria. In addition to countertops and tabletops, Tower also uses the same materials to create shower solutions for universities, hospitals, and military housing.
